Salzburg 1755 1/4 ducat Fr-867
The first specimen was lot 1708 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €280 (about US$390 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DIE GEISTLICHKEIT IN DEN HABSBURGISCHEN ERBLANDEN, SALZBURG, ERZBISTUM, Sigismund III. von Schrattenbach, 1753-1771. 1/4 Dukat 1755. GOLD. Vorzüglich. (archbishopric of Salzburg, Sigismund III von Schrattenbach, 1753-71, quarter ducat of 1755. extremely fine.)"
The second specimen was lot 3143 in Künker sale 384 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €360 (about US$465 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"Sigismund III. von Schrattenbach, 1753-1771. 1/4 Dukat 1755. 0.85 g. Fr-867; Probszt 2273; Zöttl 2942 (Type 2). GOLD. Geprägt von leicht korrodierten Stempeln, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (archbishopric of Salzburg, Sigismund III of Schrattenbach, 1753-71, quarter ducat of 1755. Struck from corroded dies, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
This one year type is fairly common. The next issue of quarter ducats was in 1770.
