This specimen was lot 1659 in Ponterio sale 173 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $4,700. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Ruble, 1866-CNB HI. NGC AU-58. Mintage of less than 110,000 pieces. Dark toned." This type was struck 1859-85 in respectable quantities but not so many as the prior type (Dav-283). This is the scarcer of two assayers reported for the date. Assayer HI (Nikolay Iossa) served 1866-77.

Specification: 20.73 g, 0.868 fine silver, 35.5 mm diameter.
