Steve Album Auction 53, lot 3286

This specimen was lot 3286 in Steve Album Auction 53 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA: Alexander II, 1855-1881, AR 15 kopeks, 1866, St. Petersburg Mint, Nikolay Iossa mintmaster, a superb quality example! PCGS graded MS65, ex Almer H. Orr III Collection. Tied with only two other examples for highest graded (Top Pop) at PCGS!" This type was struck 1860-66 in large numbers and this is a common date. In 1867, the weight was reduced from 3.11 g, 0.750 fine silver to 2.70 g, 0.500 fine silver and struck in that form until the collapse of the regime.

Recorded mintage: 6,329,306 including assayer ΗФ.

Specification: 3.10 g, 0.750 fine silver, 19.8 mm diameter, reeded edge.
