Stack's Bowers 2021 NYINC sale, lot 24522

This specimen was lot 24522 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 15 Kopeks, 1865-CNB HO. St. Petersburg Mint. Alexander II. NGC MS-64. A pleasing, sharply struck and lustrous near-Gem coin." This type was struck 1860-66 in large numbers and this is a common date. In 1867, the weight was reduced to 2.70 g, 0.500 fine silver and struck in that form until the collapse of the regime.

Recorded mintage: 10,703,000 (a common date).

Specification: 3.11 g, 0.750 fine silver.
