This specimen was lot 1657 in Ponterio sale 173 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $1,998. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Ruble, 1854-CNB HI. NGC MS-62 PL. Some contact marks in the fields, very attractive. Toned." This type was struck 1832-58 in large quantities but is today very rare in nice condition.
Recorded mintage: 3,070,000.
