Sincona sale 78, lot 505

This specimen was lot 505 in Sincona sale 78 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 120 CHF (about US$144 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA | Russian Empire and Federation | Nicholas I. 1825-1855, Poltina 1854, Warsaw Mint, MW. 1 rouble according to Petrov. Very fine. Cleaned." This type was struck in Warsaw in limited quantities 1842-47 and 1854. Proofs exist. St. Petersburg struck this type 1832-58 and its product is much more available.

Recorded mintage: 269,000.

Specification: 10.36 g, 0.868 fine silver. This specimen is 10.38 g.
