This specimen was lot 25377 in Heritage sale 3019 (Chicago, April 2012), where it sold for $1,092.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Nicholas I Poltina (1/2 Rouble) 1854 CПБ-HI, Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle / Crowned date and value in wreath, MS63 PCGS. Well struck and fully lustrous beneath mottled russet patina." Altho struck in much much smaller numbers than the contemporary ruble, this type struck 1832-58 has a lower catalog value.
Recorded mintage: 440,000.
Specification: 10.36 g, 0.868 fine silver, .289 troy oz ASW, 28.5 mm diameter.
