This specimen was lot 25372 in Heritage sale 3019 (Chicago, April 2012), where it sold for $1,955. The catalog description[2] noted, "Nicholas I copper 2 Kopeks 1840 EM, Crowned monogram / Date and value, MS66 Brown NGC. Fully lustrous, near-flawless surfaces, with bluish highlights. A spectacular example of this type." This type was struck 1840-44 at Ekaterinburg and 1839-47 at St. Petersburg and 1848 at Warsaw. Mintages are generally large.
