from the Stack's Bowers 2017 NYINC sale, lot 7177

This specimen was lot 7177 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 1/2 Kopek (Denga), 1840-CNB. PCGS MS-64 BN. Well struck and attractive with hints of original mint red amongst the devices." This copper type was struck 1840-42 at the Izhora (mintmark CPM) branch of the St. Petersburg mint.

Recorded mintage: 6,400,000.
