This specimen was lot 21768 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $3,220. The catalog description[1] noted, "Peter I Sun Rouble 1725 СПБ, Bust right/Bust right/Four crowned, cruciform Russian P's, with the date and radiant sun in the center, VF details, lightly cleaned with minor flan flaws and light scratches. The edge shows signs of mount removal. A very rare issue, despite the edge flaws, which do not detract a great deal from the appearance of the coin." Several types of ruble are listed in the SCWC for 1725 including some for Peter's wife and successor Catherine I; collecting Russian coins is made more confusing by the plethora of competing catalog numbering systems.

Recorded mintage: unknown but rare.

Specification: 28.44 g, 0.729 fine silver, 0.666 troy oz ASW.
