This specimen was lot 73231 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2023), where it sold for $432. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Ruble, 1724. Moscow (Red) Mint. Peter I (the Great). PCGS Genuine--Environmental Damage, VF Details. A seldom encountered type, this issue displays Peter with antique armor and a [wry] smile. Overall this example should see some attention." This type was struck 1724-25 with mintmark (KM 166.1) and without (shown here). The variety without mintmark is about one quarter the price.
