This specimen was lot 4815 in Goldberg sale 65 (Los Angeles, September 2011), where it sold for $3,565. The catalog description[1] noted, "Russia. Ruble, 1723-OK. Peter I, the Great. Lightly toned. NGC graded EF-40." Two types of ruble are listed in the SCWC for 1723; Dav-1657 varies in the arrangement of the emperor's armor and toga. Collecting Russian coins is made more confusing by the plethora of competing catalog numbering systems.

Recorded mintage: unknown but rare.

Specification: 28.44 g, 0.729 fine silver, 0.666 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: Diakov-24; Petrov and Severin both unlisted; Dav-1658; KM-162.3.
