This specimen was lot 4819 in Goldberg sale 65 (Los Angeles, September 2011), where it sold for $86,250. The catalog description[1] noted, "Russia. Plate Grivna (10 Kopecks), 1726. Original. sheared edge. Uniface. Catherine I, 1725-1727. Variety with plain eagle's breasts and three tail feathers. Possibly the best known. Very Rare. Very Fine to Extremely Fine." This experimental Russian plate coin, an obvious ripoff of the Swedish idea, does not seem to have progressed beyond the pattern stage as they are today very rare. They are shown but not priced in the SCWC.

Recorded mintage: unknown but rare.

Specification: copper, this specimen 162.45 grams, 63.5 x 61.5 mm.

Catalog reference: B-52; Bitkin-339. KM-PM16.
