This specimen was lot 22167 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $4,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Ruble, 1726. Moscow (Red) Mint. Catherine I. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, Unc Details. Some minor cleaning is observed, as noted, but this impressive example otherwise stands without any evidence of handling, all while sporting a pleasing, steely gray hue and a strong, impressive strike for the type. From the Sigma Collection." This type was struck 1726-27 at Moscow and St. Petersburg with the empress's bust facing right; another ruble (Dav-1664) has her facing left.
