Russia 1725-SP poltina
This specimen was lot 6083 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €8,000 (about US$11,134 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RUSSLAND, KAISERREICH, Peter I. der Große, 1682-1725. 1/2 Rubel (Poltina) 1725, St. Petersburg. Novodel. Brustbild r. mit Lorbeerkranz und umgelegtem Mantel//Gekrönter Doppeladler mit Zepter und Reichsapfel in den Fängen, oben Krone. In US-Plastikholder der NGC mit der Bewertung MS 63 (5779365-001). R Herrliche Patina, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (empire of Russia, Peter the Great, 1682-1725, poltina of 1725, St. Petersburg mint, restrike. Obverse: laureate and mantled bust right; reverse: crowned double-headed eagle with scepter and orb in its claws. Graded NGC MS-63, rare, superb patina, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
This novodel does not correspond to any circulating coin actually struck in 1725.
