Regensburg 1754 20 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 3272 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €280 (about US$367 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS FRANZ I., 1745-1765. Kurant- und Scheidemünzen aus der Zeit des Kaisers Franz I. nach der österreichisch-bayerischen Münzkonvention vom 21. September 1753. 20 Kreuzer 1754, mit Titel von Franz I. Münzmeister Johann Christoph Busch. Stempelschneider vermutlich Christoph Daniel Oexlein. Prachtexemplar. Hübsche Patina, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (city of Regensburg, struck in accordance with the Austro-Bavarian monetary convention of September 1753, twenty kreuzer of 1754, struck in the name of Francis I. Cabinet example, handsome patina, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
After being very active in striking coins during and after the War of the Austrian Succession, the Regensburg mint settled down to a period of somnolence in the 1750's and 1760's. This type was accompanied by a ten kreuzer (KM 367).
