Künker sale 405, part of lot 3262

This specimen was part of lot 3262 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €500 (about US$656 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS FRANZ I., 1745-1765. Kurant- und Scheidemünzen aus der Zeit des Kaisers Franz I. vor der österreichisch-bayerischen Münzkonvention vom 21. September 1753. Lot. Serie von Pfennigen des Zeitraumes 1747-1797, zumeist in hübschen Qualitäten. 31 Stück. Zumeist vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. Alle Stücke sind verschieden (keine Dubletten). (city of Regensburg, 31 piece lot of pennies from before the Austro-Bavarian monetary convention of September 1753, mostly nice, no duplication.)"

This type was struck in modest quantities 1747-66. There is also a uniface version (KM 299). Note the obsolete spelling, "PFENNING" on the reverse.

Recorded mintage: 32,000 plus 6,000 of KM 299.
