Regensburg 1716 1/2 thaler
This specimen was lot 3206 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €2,000 (about US$2,624 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS KARLS VI. 1/2 Reichstaler 1716, mit Titel Karls VI. Münzmeister Johann Michael Federer. Stempelschneider Christoph Daniel Oexlein. RR Laut Münzakten vermutlich 100 Exemplare geprägt. Hübsche Patina, vorzüglich. (city of Regensburg, half thaler of 1716, struck in the name of Charles VI. Very rare, perhaps 100 pieces struck. Handsome patina, extremley fine.)"
This type was struck 1716 and 1737. Note the baroque cartouche on the obverse, similar to Dav-2609.
