Künker sale 405, lot 3188

This specimen was lot 3188 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €15,000 (about US$19,682 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS KARLS I. Dukat 1737, mit Titel Karls VI. Münzmeister Johann Michael Federer. Stempelschneider Christoph Daniel Oexlein. Stadtansicht von Norden mit Brücken und Flußlandschaft, darüber strahlendes Dreieck, im Abschnitt das Regensburger Stadtwappen in Kartusche zwischen Lorbeer- und Palmzweig//Geharnischtes Brustbild r. mit Lorbeerkranz, umgelegtem Mantel und der Kette des Ordens vom Goldenen Vlies. In US-Plastikholder der NGC mit der Bewertung MS 61 (6643529-004). GOLD. RR Laut Münzakten nur 16 Exemplare geprägt. Attraktives Exemplar mit feiner Goldtönung, min. justiert, vorzüglich. (city of Regensburg, ducat of 1737, struck in the name of Charles VI. Obverse: city view from the north with bridges and river landscape, radiant triangle above, in the section the Regensburg city coat of arms in a cartouche between laurel and palm branches; reverse: armored, mantled and laureate bust right with the chain of the Order of the Golden Fleece. Graded MGC MS-61, only 16 pieces struck, attractive example with fine gold toning, minor adjustment marks, extremely fine.)"
