Künker sale 405, lot 3180

This specimen was lot 3180 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €14,000 (about US$18,370 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS JOSEFS I. Dukat 1706, mit Titel Josefs I. Münzmeister Johann Michael Federer. Stempelschneider Johann Pichler. Die gekreuzten Stadtschlüssel in verzierter Barockkartusche, darüber Engelskopf, darunter Münzmeisterzeichen//Gekrönter Doppeladler mit Schwert und Zepter in den Fängen, auf der Brust gekröntes, zweifeldiges, herzförmiges Wappen (Österreich/Lothringen). GOLD. Von großer Seltenheit. Laut Münzakten nur 134 Exemplare geprägt. Prachtexemplar. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (city of Regensburg, ducat of 1706, struck in the name of Joseph I. Obverse: cross city keys in fancy baroque cartouche, angel's head above; reverse: crowned double headed eagle with sword and scepter in its claws supporting the crowned impaled arms of Austria and Lorraine. Extremely rare, perhaps 134 pieces struck, cabinet piece, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This rare issue also comes undated.
