Künker sale 335, lot 4218

This specimen was lot 4218 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €1,700 (about US$2,225 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"REGENSBURG, STADT, 1/2 Reichstaler 1706, mit Titel Josefs I. Mit Zweigrand. Slg. Bach (Auktion Künker 238) 4725. Selten, besonders in dieser Erhaltung. Sehr attraktives Exemplar mit feiner Patina, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Germany, city of Regensburg, half thaler of 1706, in the name of Joseph I, with border. Scarce in this quality, very attractive example with fine patina. Extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

Regensburg passed to Bavaria in 1803 after centuries as an independent city-state. This one year type is accompanied by KM 231 (¼ thaler), Dav-2608 (thaler) and Fr-2491 (ducat).
