This specimen was lot 1132 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €6,000 (about US$8,087 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"REGENSBURG, STADT, 1/2 Reichstaler 1656, mit Titel Ferdinands III. Münzmeister Hieronymus Federer. Slg. Bach (Auktion Künker 238) 4627. RR Prachtexemplar von schönster Erhaltung. Fast Stempelglanz. (Germany, city of Regensburg, half thaler of 1656, struck in the name of Ferdinand III. Rare, well struck, about uncirculated.)"
While the free city of Regensburg issued large quantities of billon heller and kreuzer, the silver quarter, half and single thalers of the seventeenth century are all rare.
