Künker sale 405, lot 3162

This specimen was lot 3162 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €800 (about US$1,050 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS LEOPOLDS I. 1/2 Reichstaler 1667 (Jahreszahl im Stempel aus 1666 geändert), mit Titel Leopolds I. Münzmeister Hieronymus Federer. RR Hübsche Patina, sehr schön +. (city of Regensburg, half thaler of 1667, struck in the name of Leopold I, 1667/6 overdate. Very rare, handsome patina, choice very fine.)"

None of the half thalers of the seventeenth century are common altho they were struck in most years. This type was struck 1665-67, 1672, 1680, 1691 and 1694.
