Regensburg 1667-HF thaler Dav-5770
This specimen was lot 3155 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €2,200 (about US$2,887 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS LEOPOLDS I. Reichstaler 1667 (Jahreszahl im Stempel aus 1666 geändert), mit Titel Leopolds I. Münzmeister Hieronymus Federer. RR Hübsche Patina, fast vorzüglich. (city of Regensburg, thaler of 1667, struck in the name of Leopold I, 1667/6 overdate. Very rare, handsome patina, about extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1664-67 and 1672. The city of Regensburg issued a considerable variety of thalers after 1623 but all are rare.
