Regensburg 1665-HF 1/2 thaler
This specimen was lot 3161 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €2,400 (about US$3,149 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS LEOPOLDS I. 1/2 Reichstaler 1665, mit Titel Leopolds I. Münzmeister Hieronymus Federer. Von großer Seltenheit. Hübsche Patina, vorzüglich. (city of Regensburg, half thaler of 1665, struck in the name of Leopold I. Extremely rare, handsome patina, extremely fine.)"
None of the half thalers of the seventeenth century are common altho they were struck in most years. This type was struck 1665-67, 1672, 1680, 1691, 1694.
