Regensburg 1660-HF 1/2 thaler
This specimen was lot 3160 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €5,500 (about US$7,217 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS LEOPOLDS I. 1/2 Reichstaler 1660, mit Titel Leopolds I. Münzmeister Hieronymus Federer. Von größter Seltenheit. Prachtexemplar. Hübsche Patina, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (city of Regensburg, half thaler of 1660, struck in the name of Leopold I. Extremely rare, handsome patina, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
None of the half thalers of the seventeenth century are common altho they were struck in most years. This type was struck 1660-64.
