Regensburg 1665-HF ducat Fr-2483
This specimen was lot 1573 in Jean Elsen sale 163 (Brussels, November 2025), where it sold for €3,600 (about US$4,158 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1]
noted,
"ALLEMAGNE, RATISBONNE (REGENSBURG), Ville impériale, AV ducat, 1665 (sur 1663). Au nom de Léopold Ier. D/ Cartouche orné aux armes de la ville. R/ Aigle impériale éployée. (Germany, city of Regensburg, gold ducat of 1665/3, struck in the name of Leopold I. Obverse: ornate cartouche with the arms of the city; reverse: imperial eagle displayed. about Extremely Fine.)"
This type was struck 1659-68, 1672, 1680 and 1696 and is expensive. The cataloguers state that this specimen is a 1665/3 but our impression is that it is 1665/4.
