Regensburg 1646 1/3 thaler
This specimen was lot 3128 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €700 (about US$919 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS FERDINAND III. 1/3 Reichstaler 1646, mit Titel Ferdinands III. Münzmeister Siegmund Federer. Von größter Seltenheit. Hübsche Patina, kl. Henkelspur, Felder min. geglättet, kl. Stempelfehler, sonst fast vorzüglich. (city of Regensburg, one-third thaler of 1646, in the name of Ferdinand III. Extremely rare, handsome patina, small mount mark, some smoothing in the fields, small die defects, otherwise about very fine.)"
This is the first issue of this denomination at Regensburg. It was issued again sporadically 1652-72 and 1680 but doesn't seem to have become important. The one-third thaler was thirty kreuzer or half a gulden.
