Regensburg 1647 thaler Dav-5762
This specimen was lot 3114 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €440 (about US$577 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS FERDINAND III. Reichstaler 1647, mit Titel Ferdinands III. Münzmeister Hans Siegmund Federer. RR Henkelspur, Felder leicht geglättet, sehr schön. (city of Regensburg, thaler of 1647, in the name of Ferdinand III. Very rare, mount mark, light smoothing in the fields, very fine.)"
This type was struck 1647 only. The city of Regensburg issued a considerable variety of thalers after 1623 but all are rare.
