Künker sale 405, lot 3115

This specimen was lot 3115 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €1,800 (about US$2,362 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS FERDINAND III. Reichstaler 1649, mit Titel Ferdinands III. Münzmeister Hans Siegmund Federer. R Hübsche Patina, vorzüglich. (city of Regensburg, thaler of 1649, struck in the name of Ferdinand III. Rare, handsome patina, extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1649 only. The city of Regensburg issued a considerable variety of thalers after 1623 but all are rare.
