Regensburg 1652 thaler Dav-5764
This specimen was lot 3116 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €420 (about US$551 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS FERDINAND III. Reichstaler 1652, mit Titel Ferdinands III. Münzmeister Hans Siegmund Federer. RR Henkel- und Bearbeitungsspuren am Rand, sehr schön. (city of Regensburg, thaler of 1652, struck in the name of Ferdinand III. Rare, mount and tooling marks on the edge, very fine.)"
This type was struck 1652-53 only. The city of Regensburg issued a considerable variety of thalers after 1623 but all are rare.
