This specimen was lot 1227 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 38 (Winter Park, FL, November 2025), where it sold for $2,160. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU, Lima, gold 2 escudos, 1828/7 JM, NGC AU 50, "top pop," ex-Eliasberg, ex-Almenara (both stated on label). Good strike with choice full rims, light red toning over muted luster, faint hairlines, tied with one other for finest in the NGC census (with just one other listed in XF 45). Pedigreed to the Eliasberg Collection (American Numismatic Rarities auction of April 2005, lot 3533) and the Almenara Collection." The SCWC lists this denomination from Lima for 1828-29 and 1833, although this sale turned up an 1827.
