This specimen was lot 1226 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 38 (Winter Park, FL, November 2025), where it sold for $3,360. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU, Lima, gold 2 escudos, 1827 JM, unique? (unlisted), NGC AU details / damaged, finest and only example in NGC census, ex-Almenara. Crude strike with multiple natural flaws (laminations, void in edge) and minor damage (nicks and digs), yet with full rims and muted luster, unlisted and possibly unique, as we cannot find another example of this date in this denomination. Pedigreed to the Almenara Collection (stated on label)." The SCWC lists this denomination from Lima for 1828-29 and 1833.
