This type is listed in the SCWC for 1736 along with at least eight other types of testone, all scarce. It is very similar to KM 877 but is dated. The testone was thirty baiocchi, while the piastra, the Italian equivalent of the German thaler, was 105 baiocchi. The second specimen was lot 1569 in Künker sale 403 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €850 (about US$1,115 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"PAPST CLEMENS XII., 1730-1740. Die Münzstätte Rom. Testone 1736, Rom. Ohne Stempelschneidersignatur. Mit DABIS / DISCERNERE / INTER • MALVM / ET • BONVM und dem Wappen des Presidente della zecca, Monsieur Nicolò Casoni, auf der Rückseite. Feine Patina, vorzüglich. (Papal States, Clement XII, 1730-40, testone of 1736, Rome mint, without engraver's initials, with "DABIS / DISCERNERE / INTER • MALVM / ET • BONVM" ('You can discern between bad and good') and the arms of the mintmaster on the reverse. Fine patina, extremely fine.)"

The third specimen was lot 1110 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[2] noted, "PAPAL STATES: Clement XII, 1730-40, AR testone, 1736, DABIS / DISCERNERE / INTER MALVM / ET BONVM (You can discern between good and evil), NGC graded AU58."

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 7.93 g, silver, 0.917 fine. The second specimen is 8,25 g.
