Papal States (1675) piastra Dav-4079
The first specimen was lot 3555 in Sincona sale 11 (Zürich, May 2013), where it sold for 500 CHF (about US$619 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"VATIKAN / KIRCHENSTAAT Clemente X. 1670-1676. Piastra 1675, Rom. Auf das Heilige Jahr. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Papal States, Clement X, 1670-76, piastra of 1675, Rome mint, on the Holy year. Very fine to extremely fine.)"
These silver coins are popular with collectors not only for their Catholic associations but also the extraordinarily vivid portraits of the various popes. This type is fairly scarce. The reverse legend, CLAVSIS·FORIBVS·VENIET ET·DABIT·PACEM = "THE CLOSED DOORS WILL COME AND GIVE PEACE".
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 31.99 g, 0.917 fine silver, the first specimen 31.80 g.
