Künker Auction 441, lot 5029

This specimen was lot 5029 in Künker sale 441 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €1,100 (about US$1,513 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALIEN, KIRCHENSTAAT/VATIKAN Clemens X., 1670-1676. 1/2 Grosso del Giubileo 1675, Rom. In US-Plastikholder der NGC mit der Bewertung MS 66+ (Top Pop) (6141774-018). Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtexemplar. Hübsche Patina, fast Stempelglanz. (Italy, Papal States, Clement X, 1670-76, half grosso of the Jubilee, 1675, Rome mint. Graded NGC MS-66 "Top Pop", rare in this quality, choice example, handsome patina, about uncirculated.)"

This is one of a pair of mezzi grossi issued for the Holy Year of 1675; the other (KM 357) shows the Holy Door open. The pope also issued four different testoni and four different piastri for the occasion.
