Norway 1643 skilling
This specimen was lot 11008 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €288 (about US$300). The catalog description[1] noted, "NORWAY. Skilling, 1643. Christiania mint. Christian IV. NGC EF Details--Environmental Damage. From the L. E. Bruun Collection. Ex: Countship of Brahesminde Collection (Private Sale - 1922)." This type was struck 1643-48 and is scarce. It was worth 1/96 of a specie daler. Some of this issue show only a two digit date ("43"). If the SCWC and Numista are correct, this coin is debased from the prior issue of 1641-42, which was 0.875 fine silver.
