Norway 1644 2 skilling
This specimen was lot 3686 in Sincona sale 51 (Zürich, October 2018), where it sold for 450 CHF (about US$543 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Christian IV. 1588-1648. 2 Skilling 1644. Selten. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Überdurchschnittliche Erhaltung. (Norway, Christian IV, 1588-1648, two skilling of 1644. Rare, Very fine-extremely fine, Extraordinary condition.)"
This type was struck 1643-48 with a clover leaf for a privy mark. it replaced a good silver coin (KM 20) of 1641-42. This type was struck 1649-67 in large quantities. It was accompanied by a one skilling (KM 23), four skilling (KM 21.1), eight skilling (KM 26.3), 16 skilling (KM 27) and two mark (KM 28).
