This specimen is one of a type issued since 1996 as part of the reform of the Mexican peso (a previous version had stated "N$2"). When it was introduced, one dollar was about three pesos; today (December 2024), US$1 = 20.6 pesos.
Recorded mintage: 104,138,000.
Specification: 5.19 g, bimetallic (aluminum bronze center in a stainless steel ring), 23 mm diameter, plain edge.
