This specimen was lot 30271 in Heritage sale 3040 (Chicago, April 2015), where it sold for $1,351.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold Proof 100 Pesos 1997-Mo PR68 Ultra Cameo NGC, Mexico City mint. An impressive and essentially flawless example of this popular and scarce modern gold issue with a reported mintage figure of only 206 pieces." This commemorative honoring Maya sculpture was the second hundred pesos of the reform of 1994. It is accompanied by a number of silver one ounce coins, including KM 619. The next issue would be the series honoring the Mexican states.

Recorded mintage: 206 proofs plus 500 uncirculated.

Specification: 31.10 g, 0.999 fine gold, 34.5 mm diameter.
