This specimen was lot 21300 in Heritage sale 61630 (Dallas, February 2024), where it sold for $276. The lot description[1] noted, "Mexico: Estados Unidos Matte "Jaguar" 5 Pesos (1 oz) 1998-Mo MS69 PCGS, Mexico City mint." This is one of a series of silver NCLT's featuring indigenous culture. We don't know if the denomination was intended to be five old (pre-reform) pesos or five new pesos but we doubt that it mattered, as they were sold at their bullion value. This one was struck 1998 only and turns up less often than some of the others.
Recorded mintage: 5,800 plus 4,300 proofs.
Specification: 31.10 g, 0.999 fine silver, 40 mm diameter, reeded edge, 1.000 troy oz ASW.
