Mexico 1998 100 pesos KM-602
This specimen was lot 34022 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $1,586.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold commemorative 100 Pesos 1998 MS66 PCGS, Mexico City mint, cf. KM606 (but dated 1998). Gem Uncirculated with prooflike fields. A scarce modern issue with a reported mintage of 500 pieces. AGW 1 oz." This commemorative honoring Maya sculpture was the third hundred pesos of the reform of 1994. It is accompanied by a number of silver one ounce coins, including KM 619. It is listed in the SCWC for 1996 only, but the specimen shown is clearly dated 1998. The next issue would be the series honoring the Mexican states.
