Jean Elsen sale 136, lot 1546

This specimen was lot 1546 in Jean Elsen sale 136 (Brussels, March 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"MEXIQUE, Etats-Unis (1905-), AV 1000 pesos (1 onza), 1992. Jaguar - Piedra de los soles. Ecrin. Certificat n° 157. Flan poli . (Mexico, gold 1,000 pesos (ounce) of 1992. Jaguar sculpture, proof, with box and certificate.)"

This one ounce gold NCLT was designed to compete with the gold libertad but was not a success.

Recorded mintage: 19,850 + 2,000 proofs.

Specification: 31.10 g, 0.999 fine gold.
