This specimen was lot 72285 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 10000 Pesos, 1992-Mo. Mexican (Potosi) Mint. CHOICE UNCIRCULATED. Attractively toned, with an alluring matte nature." This five ounce bullion coin was designed to compete with the Libertad program but never attained that level of popularity despite some interesting designs.
Recorded mintage: 51,900 plus 3,300 proofs.
Specification: 155.51 g, 0.999 fine silver, 5.000 troy oz ASW, 64 mm diameter.
