This specimen was lot 72593 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $90. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Peso, 1905-Zs FM. Zacatecas Mint. PCGS AU-55 Gold Shield. Though displaying some minor, even wear, this piece nevertheless presents a high degree of attractive and captivating toning comprised of burnt sienna, sea foam green, magenta, and cobalt. From the Sonoran Sunset Collection." This silver peso superseded the cap-and-ray eight reales and was struck 1898-1905 and 1908-09. The Porfirio Diaz government closed several branch mints so that only Culiacan, Guanajuato, Zacatecas and Mexico City struck this type. Only the Mexico City mint remained open after 1905.

Recorded mintage: 995,000, a somewhat scarce date.
