This specimen was lot 11305 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $460. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Peso, 1904-ZsFZ. PCGS MS-64 Secure Holder. Attractive pastel toning over slightly prooflike fields." The type was struck at Zacatecas 1898-1905; assayers FZ (shown here) and FM are about equally common.
Recorded mintage: 2,423,000 (assayers FZ and FM).
Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
