This specimen was lot 11373 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $1,469. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Culiacan. Centavo, 1905-C. NGC MS-64 BN. Sharply struck." This date, struck in the final year of operation of the Culiacan mint, is rare. This type is available in brown uncirculated but may not exist with mint red. Centavos of the Estados Unidos design (KM 416) were also struck in 1905.
