This specimen was lot 70251 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2020), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 5 Centavos, 1900/800-Mo M. Mexico City Mint. NGC MS-64. A great example of this overdate variety, the present specimen features a deep cabinet tone and stands as the finest graded in the NGC census." Shown is an 1900-MoM five centavos, of a type struck at the Mexico City mint 1898-1905. This issue is common, even in nice condition, altho the overdate shown here is priced about double the normal date. It features the redesigned eagle introduced on all the silver denominations in 1898. Other mints include Culiacan, Guanajuato and Zacatecas; the other branch mints having closed.

Specification: 1.35 g, 0.903 fine silver, .039 troy oz ASW.
