This specimen was lot 72702 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Santa Ana, CA, May 2017), where it sold for $141. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Peso, 1900-GoRS. NGC AU-55. Bold strike on eagle's breast. This date is notorious for poorly struck coins and finding an example with a full snake on the eagle's breast is quite difficult. Lightly toned." This date is known from Culiacan, Guanajuato (shown here), Mexico City and Zacatecas. This is the final year of operation for the mint and this is a scarce date.

Recorded mintage: 864 gold pesos plus 1,489,000 silver pesos.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM-409.1.
