This specimen was lot 71469 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Centavos, 1900-Zs Z. Zacatecas Mint. NGC MS-64. Finest of four examples graded by NGC. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The Zacatecas mint struck this ten centavos with this design 1898-1905. It is a redesign of the ten centavos piece struck 1869-97; only the eagle was changed. No dates are rare. The bronze one centavo and silver five and twenty centavos were similarly modified. The eight reales was dropped in favor of a silver peso with this eagle. The regime began closing the branch mints in 1893 and by 1900, only Guanajuato, Culiacan and Zacatecas were left.

Recorded mintage: 219,000, a somewhat scarce date.

Specification: 2.70 g, 0.903 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, reeded edge.
